Setting up your Motorola Q11 device is straightforward, the instructions below will mirror the actions taken in the MotoSync app.
What you will need:
- Q11 router
- Modem or incoming internet connection
- Ethernet cable
- Power adapter
- Mobile phone (iPhone or Android)
- MotoSync app
Step one: Create a MotoSync account
To begin, download the
MotoSync app
.
Once downloaded, launch the app. First, you will be taken to the sign-in page. Tap on the
Create Account
button. The page will redirect to the
Create my account
page. Enter the email address you would like to associate with the account and a password.
Please note: signing in with an existing account will not allow you to set up the new Q11 router. You will need to sign in with a new account that has not been associated with a router before.
Step two: Add the router to your account
Now that your account has been set up, let's add the router to your account. Your screen should now look like the screen below. Tap the Get started button to begin.
Each Motorola device will have a QR code on the back of it. Locate the QR code on the device labeled Router .
In the app, tap on the Set up a new device button. Tap "Found the QR code!" . On the following screen, tap on the Scan device QR Code button. The camera on your phone should be made available and allow you to quickly scan the QR code.
Please note: If you purchased a 2 pack or 3 pack, you can choose any of the devices to scan and setup as your router.
Start by unplugging any existing modem s and router s .
Next, connect the supplied E thernet cable from the WAN port on your Q11 device to your existing modem or modem router .
Please note: if you receive a red X, attempt the process again. We recommend troubleshooting the connection between the modem and the Q11. If you are still not receiving the green checkmark, please contact our Customer Success team so we can assist you.
Step three: Set your SSID and password
The next screen will allow the opportunity to customize the SSID and the password used to log onto the WiFi. Tap the
Confirm
button to continue after entering the information in these fields.
If you would prefer to not set a new SSID and password, you can tap on the
Use Defaults
button to use the same SSID and password found on the bottom of the router.
Step four (optional): Add an extender to your account
The next screen will allow for the option to set up an extender. If you purchased the Q11-10-03 (3-Pack), you can set up the additional units as wireless mesh extenders that will help distribute the WiFi signal throughout your home. To learn more about how to set up an extender using the motosync app, please continue here . Otherwise, tap skip and finish setup to complete the process.

You can view this information again in the app whenever you need it. Take the opportunity to connect the devices in your home to your new WiFi router. When finished, tap on the Finish Setup button at the bottom of the screen.
The next page will display a notification bar above the overview section, as moto sync scans your network for wireless devices .
You have now finished the setup process! The screen will display the Network page of the moto sync app.
