Why are some of my Ethernet lights amber / orange and some are green

ANSWER: When the Ethernet light is green, it indicates that the ethernet connection is over 100 Mbps, while an orange/amber Ethernet light indicates that there is a speed limitation of 10 up to 100 Mbps, either on the ethernet cable itself or on the device connected at the other end.
