FAQ: There is only one Ethernet port on the back of my MB8600 and I want to use port bonding; How do I access the three other ports?

HOW TO ENABLE ETHERNET PORTS ON BACK OF MODEM:

The other three ports are hidden underneath a plastic adhesive backed cover.

The cover was added to the back of the unit to reduce confusion regarding whether the MB8600 is a Router or a Bridge Modem.

It is a Bridge, with the ability to bond ports if your router or other equipment supports it.

To remove the the cover:

1. Power down the MB8600

2. Unplug any Ethernet cable plugged into the port

3. Unplug the coaxial cable

4. Unplug the power cord

5. Lift the label with a paper clip

The other three Ethernet ports are beneath that label.

*Please note that port bonding is typically supported only by commercial grade networking equipment, and not by consumer routers.  Be sure to check your device documentation before trying to connect additional Ethernet cables.

For PORT BONDING:  IMPORTANT!  Only connect your Port Bonding device to the MB8600 Ethernet Ports 1 and 2.
Do not use Ports 3 and 4 for Port Bonding.
