The Motorola MH7022 comes with one router and one satellite that can be meshed together to extend your home's WiFi coverage. The Motosync app makes it an easy process.
In order to set up the MH7022 satellite, you will first need to have an MH7022 unit configured as your main router. To learn how to set up an MH7022 unit as your main gateway using the Motosync App, please review *this guide.**
What you will need:
- MH7022 configured as the main router
- MH7022 satellite
- Ethernet cable (optional)
- Two power adapters
- Mobile phone (iPhone or Android)
- Motosync App
Step one: Launch the motosync app
To begin, launch the motosync app. If you previously set up your main router using the app, you will already be logged in. If you do have an account to access the app, you can create one by following the instructions here.
When the app is launched and you are signed in, you'll be taken to the Network tab. This is the home screen.
n the bottom of the screen, you will see a bar with five icons. Tap on the fifth icon, the gear.
Step two: Add the satellite to your account
The page will load the Settings tab and look similar to the example below. Toward the bottom of the page under the Account section, tap on the 'Add satellite' button.
Next, you will be asked to scan a QR code. Each Motorola MH7022 unit will have a QR code on the back of it. Locate the QR code on the device labeled Satellite. Tap the Scan QR Code
button on your mobile phone to continue. The camera on your phone should be made available and allow you to quickly scan the QR code on the satellite unit.
You will next receive a confirmation page that this new router has been added to your account. Tap the Setup my device button to continue.
Step three: Activate the satellite
Remove the power cable from the Motorola packaging. It's time to get this new satellite set up. The screen will display some instructions for you to follow. If you are unsure of where this new satellite will be located at this time, you can plug it into power in the same room as the main router. Once the MH7022 satellite is plugged into power and you see lights flashing, tap the I see the light!
button.
Now that the satellite is plugged in and is nearby to the main router, it will configure itself to your network. It can take up to three minutes for this process to complete. Once the satellite has been successfully added to your network, you will be presented with a checkmark on your screen.
Sometimes the satellite does not successfully configure wirelessly. In this event, you can tap the Try again wirelessly
button. This will repeat the process in the previous step.
The last step will be to unplug the ethernet cable from the back of your satellite and the main router. You can now relocate the satellite to an area of your home of your choosing. If you need to set up additional satellites, you'll be given the opportunity now by selecting Add another satellite
. If this is the only satellite you need to set up, select Finish setup
.
Congratulations!
